In the first weekend of October, myself and 11 other underwater photographers and their models traveled to Strømsholmen to participate in the National Underwater Photography Championship. In the end I ranked 8.th with a winning picture in the "wide angle with diver" category. It was a fantastic weekend with great dives, a lot of underwater photography and a tremendous learning experience.
This years norwegian national underwater photography championship was a "splash-in" event where divers from all over the country came together to take pictures to enter into the competition. During two dives consisting of 90 minutes, the photographers would have to take 5 pictures in the categories "Wide angle with diver", "Wide angle without diver", "Macro", "Fish portrait" and within a theme category chosen by the judges. This year chosen theme was "Patterns".
To the left is my entry in the "Wide angle with diver" category. A local diver Bjørn Ove (?) helped me by being my model for the day.
This picture became the winner in its category!
This years competition was different in that very little editing of the images was allowed. NDF is trying to gradually adapt to the world championship rules where for instance no cropping and editing is allowed.
